VENTURE CAPITAL TO ENTREPRENEURS (VC2E)

For the first time ever in Malaysia, MVCA will hold an event where VCs (Venture Capitalists) and PEs (Private Equity Fund Managers) will pitch to Entrepreneurs.
The primary aim of this event is to enable VCs and PEs to share their investment strategies and objectives with potential investees and Entrepreneurs. This will provide Entrepreneurs with a better understanding of VC and PE firms’ investment focus and thereby enable them to seek investments from the right investor.
The event will cover different development stages from start up to established companies in different industry sectors. By attending this event, participants will derive a better understanding of their prospects for fund raising and also network with the most active VCs and PEs in the region.
The following areas will be covered at this event:
• The type of Equity Funds available in the Malaysian market
• The type of investments these investors are looking for
• Sectors, industries or other areas of investment currently in demand (e.g. Mobile, Internet, Manufacturing, Biotech, Healthcare, or other areas)
• The stage of the investment lifecycle that VCs & PEs invest in (e.g. early stage, expansion, mezzanine or other stages)
• The funds available for investment
• The minimum and maximum size of investments
• Mode of investment – direct equity, preference shares, loans, others
• The expertise provided by each of the investors or Funds
• Other services that they can provide other than just money (i.e. smart money)
• Some examples of investments that have been successfully made
Who should attend:
• Entrepreneurs and business people considering fund raising for their ventures
• Companies from all stages of the business lifecycle: seed stage, startup, growth, expansion, mezzanine, pre-IPO, post-IPO and mature companies seeking funds for high growth, reorganization, restructuring, Management Buy-outs or Management Buy-ins.

As a follow-up to this event, MVCA will host the “MVCA 2009 Showcase”, an event where Entrepreneurs and Managers can pitch their business ideas and seek funding from VCs and PEs but this time with a better understanding of these Investors’ objectives and focus.
