"What business school? Life, the need to be relevant taught me how to do business" - said my good friend and masseur, Mr Lee Seng Shou.
" I became blind overnight. I was an engineering trainee with Malayan Breweries. I woke up one day, the world was dark. The doctor said, you have become blind for life. My world turned topsy turvy. I wanted to die".
There were about 10 of us at the sharing session today at Kelantan Delights. Once again, Juhaidi came to the rescue. He sponsored the food and the venue at his authentic Malay restaurant.
Some of the audience were reaching out for their tissue to wipe off tears..
" My mother suffered the most - she did not know how i would live..my mum died in my arms crying".
"I then decided I will not die but become successful - to live life to the fullest and enjoy listening to the birds and feel the sunshine on my face"
Mr Lee moved from an Insurance agent to becoming a masseur. He wanted to feel his customers. He gave up insurance when a prospect quietly walked away whilst he was talking.
A passerby alerted Mr Lee of this and he was crushed !
He then took up massage as a profession and today has the largest blind massage centre in KL with more than 40 masseurs working for him.
Mr Lee is well "read" and has taken part in 4 Paralympics.
Mr Lee also holds an honorary Masters from the Help institute.
We have been so excited about all other events that are taking place but sitting down today with Mr Lee was simply a powerful moment. The man has true vision!
Before he left, he told the audience, "Dash, we have been friends for the last 15 years and he is my good friend" - good man.
Wish you luck sir !
